SDN was joined by medical student Grace Shadid and Dr. Naureen Kabani, Rheumatologist, from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, to learn about the SUNY Downstate Patient Navigator Program and how it’s benefitting both patients and medical students. Created in partnership with The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson in response to health inequities faced by patients of color with psoriatic disease, the Patient Navigator Program gives students hands-on experience with at-risk patients, allowing them to further develop their culturally competent care skills to be better educated and more inclusive physicians in the future. Learn more about the program in the interview link below!https://lnkd.in/g_-HA6dA

The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) launched a reimagined Professional Practice Standards last week at PSA23. The new standards are more flexible and contemporary, and they are built off the medicine management cycle. This means that pharmacists can look at the clinical activities they undertake, and the minimum practice standards that apply to those activities. The standards were launched by PSA National President Dr Fei Sim FPS, who said that they were designed to ensure the quality of the work that pharmacists do. “Every pharmacist in Australia will be united by these standards, which gives us all the building blocks for the foundations of professional pharmacy practice,” Dr Sim said. “The standards support us to be more flexible, to confidently expand our scope when our practice evolves. It offers clear and actionable direction, and importantly, it ensures the quality and standard, and increases the safety and effectiveness of the services we provide.” The standards are available to pharmacists and the public here: https://ow.ly/42HI50PsvRa #PSA23SYD #ProfessionalPracticeStandards #PPS

A wonderful systematic review paper by Paudyal et. al, 2023 that deals with the reviewing of the existing clinical pharmacy guidelines that focuses on clinical pharmacy services and roles. No doubt Australia has done greater deeds in this field with such high evidence. Highly recommended.
