There is so much to share from March's newsletter, but we'll start with the Community Medical Clinic. 140 patients were treated, 136 received meds and essential vitamins and 20 women's health ultrasounds. Hope and inspiration are wonderful gifts! Tom "T.J." Scott Rochelle Cinque Scotthttps://lnkd.in/e2G7jwqc

The Children’s Commissioner has called for urgent reform in social care, particularly for Children’s long-term care. Despite increasing funding and staffing, only 25% of those needing care receive it. To improve the service and ensure transparency, it is crucial to digitise the#CHCprocess, giving patients and caregivers more visibility of the care pathway.Digitising the CHC process can improve the quality of data pathways, support Integrated Care Systems and improve patient outcomes. SDN was joined by medical student Grace Shadid and Dr. Naureen Kabani, Rheumatologist, from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, to learn about the SUNY Downstate Patient Navigator Program and how it’s benefitting both patients and medical students. Created in partnership with Janssen in response to health inequities faced by patients of color with psoriatic disease, the Patient Navigator Program gives students hands-on experience with at-risk patients, allowing them to further develop their culturally competent care skills to be better educated and more inclusive physicians in the future. Following the publication of theBMC Geriatricsmulti-method qualitative study into registered care home managers’ experiences of responding to the national care home visiting guidance in England during the Covid-19 pandemic, Care England has prepared a read-across providing a view into what the experience was like through the lens of learning disability providers. We found that the findings of the “Registered care home managers’ experiences of responding to the national care home visiting guidance in England during the Covid-19 pandemic; a multi-method qualitative study” resonate strongly with providers of services to individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people. Yet, there remain specific issues, experienced by this cohort of providers, which were not felt by the older person sector, notably owing to the predominant focus of the Government on the older person sector throughout their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.Read it in full here: https://lnkd.in/dtUkyTZK

Did you know?Research examining civic engagement and state health outcomes between 1996 and 2020 revealed a positive association: states with higher levels of civic engagement and voter participation tend to experience improved public health outcomes. Additionally, the Health & Democracy Index analysis has demonstrated that states with inclusive voting policies and fewer voting barriers exhibit better health outcomes; conversely, states with restrictive voting policies tend to have worse health outcomes. According to the Index, these voting barriers also contribute to the exacerbation of existing health disparities, such as disparities in infant mortality rates.Vote for health! #NPHWFor more, seehttps://lnkd.in/gEt2y8MQhttps://lnkd.in/gr778Tnyhttps://lnkd.in/grfAkEkb
