Proactive and supportive #healthcare is vital at every stage of our lives. If we care for our total well-being throughout our lives, the aging process should be easier. Long-term healthy living typically means less clinical intervention through procedures, medications, etc., lessening the chances of developing debilitating diseases. We should always champion ourselves and our loved ones to stay healthy and seek proactive care. However, some issues may still arise regardless of how we care for ourselves, such as #alzheimersdisease and #dementia. Sometimes, our loved ones suffer from these debilitating health issues, and we end up with the all-consuming job of full-time #caretaker . Full-time caretaker is not a job anyone plans for or wants. And very few people have the skills to navigate elusive diagnoses, rapidly changing health needs, and the stress that comes with "all the things." Who to go to and what to do are constant questions.Recently, my father, Mel Garber (Director Emeritus, UGA Archway Partnership, Professor Emeritus, Horticulture), was featured in an article featuring The University of Georgia's CARE program that provides clinical, research, and outreach center called the Cognitive Aging Research and Education Center, or CARE Center. It is heartening to see support like this becoming more known and commonplace to support this much-needed area of healthcare for both patient and caregiver.https://lnkd.in/eTBuCnTB

SDN was joined by medical student Grace Shadid and Dr. Naureen Kabani, Rheumatologist, from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, to learn about the SUNY Downstate Patient Navigator Program and how it’s benefitting both patients and medical students. Created in partnership with Janssen in response to health inequities faced by patients of color with psoriatic disease, the Patient Navigator Program gives students hands-on experience with at-risk patients, allowing them to further develop their culturally competent care skills to be better educated and more inclusive physicians in the future. Learn more about the program in the interview link below!https://lnkd.in/g_-HA6dA

Just as Easter marks a season of renewal, the lab is constantly evolving with new technologies and findings. Our work in diagnostics and research leads to better patient outcomes.Today is an opportunity to reflect on our contributions and to look forward to the innovations that lie ahead.Let's celebrate the spirit of Easter by embracing change and growth in our profession. How are you experiencing renewal in your role?#laboratory #medicallaboratory #biomedicalscience

What an inspiring webinar! Putting children's health and wellbeing at the centre of school function. Some take-outs for me: Sharon Goldfeld: 'parents are looking for a school that help their child feel happy, connected, having friends and enjoying school' - academic outcomes not mentioned by most. Pasi Sahlberg: 'It's not about adding more to what the school is doing, but doing what they are doing already, but doing things differently'. Thank you 👏 See the discussion paper at this link: https://lnkd.in/g_sNS584
