Mrs. Alexander died Wednesday at her home in Okarche. She was born Nov.4, 1923, in Okarche. After graduating from high school she moved toWashington, D.C. and worked at the Pentagon. She wassecretary/treasurer of Alexander Construction Inc. for many years. Shelived in Oklahoma City for 40 years before moving to Okarche five yearsago. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church.
She is survived by a son, William Alexander of Oklahoma City; abrother, Gene Gilles of El Reno; and a sister, Alta Mueggenborg ofOkarche.

The death of T. T. Alexander, a prominent resident of Yukon township,died at his home north of the town of Yukon early Wednesday morning.His death was very sudden and on the previous day he was supposed to bein his usual health. Death of Mrs. Alig
Mrs. Peter Alig, who had been sick for the last six weeks, died Tuesdaynight at her home northwest of town, aged 61 years. Mrs. Alig had beenin poor health for about five years.
The funeral service was held at the Catholic church this morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Father Steber.
Mrs. Alig had lived near Okarche for the last twelve years and had manyfriends. She leaves a husband, seven daughters and two sons to mournher loss.

Peter Alig died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Meistrell inthis city, Friday night, August 9, at the age of 75 years. He had beenin poor health for some time and recently suffered several strokes ofparalysis. The funeral was held Monday (Aug. 11), and interment made inthe Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Alig was born in Bavaria Germany, and when 8 years old came toAmerica with his parents and settled in Woodford county, Illinois. Hewas married to Marian (sic) Kleiss in 1863, and moved with his familyto Pettis county, Missouri. From there he moved to Okarche in 1894,where his wife died in 1906, since which time he has made his home withhis children. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons and sevendaughters, four brothers and three sisters. Two sons and threedaughters live here, one daughter lives at Vinita, Oklahoma, one atPaxico, Kan., one at Villagrove Ill., and one at Groom, Texas. All hischildren were at the funeral.
Mrs. Joe Rund, of Villagrove Ill., Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Schumaker ofPaxico, Kan., and Mrs. John Weller of Groom, Tex., came the first ofthe week to attend the funeral of their father Peter Alig. Mr. and Mrs.Schumaker returned to their home, Wednesday night, and Mrs. Wellerleaves for her home in Texas, today. Mrs. Rund expects to leavetomorrow for her home in Illinois.

KILLED HIMSELF.
Yukon, Ok., May 24 - James Bagwell, an operator in the employ of theChoctaw Railroad company here, committed suicide yesterday morning byshooting himself twice in the head. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Dolton spent last week at Richland at the bedside ofher father, Rev. T. K. Bales, who died Wednesday [19 Jul 1933]. Funeralservices were held Thursday at the Turner funeral home at Yukon withburial in the Frisco cemetery. Mr. Bales was a resident of the Mustangand Red Hill community a number of years and leaves a host of friendsin addition to his family.

Mr. Barthelme died July 3, 2008, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital. Hewas born June 26, 1922, in Okarche. A lifetime resident of Okarche, hewas an aircraft engine mechanic at Page Aircraft for over 30 years. Hewas a member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Order of Foresters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sarah TrustyBarthelme; brothers, Leo, Frank and Joe Barthelme; and sisters, MaryRogers, Rose Waltman, Margaret Kliesen, Lorretta Barrett and DorothyWard
He married Mary Agnes Hau on Nov. 4,1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. She survives him in death.

Charles H. Gibson, Jr., Beets
The funeral of Charles H. Gibson, Jr., Beets, of this city was held atthe grave in Highland Cemetery Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Theservice was conducted by the Rev. Percy Atkins, pastor of the FirstChristrian Church. Rev. Atkins used as his text for a short butcomforting talk, “It is Only A Step.”
The pall bearers were chosen from the Sunday school class which Charlesattended while here and were Luther Hoyle, Howard Aicher, Alden Nellisand Edwin Orr.
Charles H. Gibson, Jr., Beets, was born at Wellington, Kansas, Nov.2nd, 1914, died June 19th, 1931, aged 16 years, 8 months at theOsteopathic Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
He was left an orphan at the age of nine years and was adopted by hisgrandparents, Dr. and Mrs. M. J. Beets of Wichita, formerly of Winfieldand made his home with them until the last seven months when he went toEl Reno, Okla.
Charles possessed a sunny disposition having always a smile foreveryone and was loved by all who knew him. Most of his school life wasspent at Winfield, except the last semester which he attended in ElReno where his uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gibson had planned tocomplete his college education.
He attended Sunday school at the Christian Church at Winfield and El Reno.
He had just recently returned from a vacation trip to the Ozarks,accompanied by his aunt, Mrs. J. B. Gibson and was apparently in thebest of health at that time but died after a few days illness.
Among those who are left to mourn his loss are his foster father andmother, Dr. and Mrs. M. J. Beets, of Wichita, Kan., a half sister,Virginia Raymond of Stanberry, Mo., his aunts and uncles Mr. and Mrs.J. B. Gibson of El Reno, Okla., also Mrs. Wm. Cowherd of Wellington,Kan., Mrs. Frank Hoskins and John Gibson of Milton, Iowa, Chan Gibsonof Coon Rapids, Iowa, Alvin Gibson, Kalamazoo, Mich., Frank Gibson, ofHollywood, Calif., and F. B. Beets of Denver, Colo.
The following poem a favorite with the family expresses the Christian faith of this young lad.

William Earl Best, 59. Minco, died at his home Thursday as the resultof a heart attack. He came to this community in 1902 from Iowa and wasa member of the Eagles Lodge.

Gerald "Gerry" Brueggen departed this life to be with our Lord on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at the age of 49, in Kingfisher.
Gerald Keith Brueggen was born to Phil and Mildred Wolf Brueggen the19th of August, 1958, in Okarche. He was raised on the family farmnortheast of Okarche with his brothers and sisters. He graduated fromOkarche Public School in 1976.
He married Cindy McFarlin on Aug. 1, 1980, at Holy Trinity CatholicChurch in Okarche. Gerry and Cindy were blessed with two wonderfulchildren, a son, Gregory, and a daughter, Amy.
Gerry was employed by Walker Corp. and worked his way up as aproduction foreman. In 1991, he went to work for the FederalCorrectional Institution in El Reno. He and his brother, Kevin, boughtthe family farm from their mother in 1995, and he farmed and ranched tothe present.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Cindy, and two children, Greg and Amy ofthe home, and Greg's girlfriend, Kara Sandefur of Kingfisher, whomGerry was very fond of; his mother, Mildred Brueggen of Okarche; foursisters, Elaine Stratton and companion, Darrell Murray of Dover, YvonneHicks and husband, Ronnie of Okarche, Evelyn Elliott and husband, Joeof Yukon and Jeanne Nathani and husband, Malik of Houston, Texas; twobrothers, Kevin Brueggen and wife, Katie of Kingfisher and RickBrueggen and wife, Darla of Okarche; and brother-in-law, Gary Stratton.
He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Howard and LouiseMcFarlin of Checotah; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and NathanMagers of San Angelo, Texas; seven nieces, 11 nephews and ninegreat-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and family to whom hewas fondly known as "Diesel."

Brueggen was a farmer and stockman and a member of the Holy TrinityCatholic Curch, the Foresters and the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association.He lived and farmed all of his life in Kingfisher County.
Brueggen is survived by his wife, Mildred, of the home; three sons,Gerald Brueggen and Kevin Brueggen, both of Kingfisher, and RichardBrueggen of Hennessey; four daughters, Elaine Stratton and YvonneHicks, both of Okarche, Evelyn Elliott of Yukon and Jeanne Nathani ofHouston, Texas; 18 grandchildren, and four sisters, Louella Wedman ofYukon and Dorothy Stroh, Bernadine Schroeder and Ruth Annuschat, all ofOkarche.

Mrs. Burch, who had lived at Geary 30 years, died Saturday night at her home there after a long illness.

Pearly R. Choate was born to Ralph and Mae (Pierce) Dixon on Nov. 10,1930, in Mountain View. She passed away Nov. 23, 2007, at her home inGeary at the age of 77. She was united in marriage to Billie Choate onFeb. I, 1960, in Dallas. Pearly lived in the Mountain View and Hobartarea and in Arkansas before moving to the Calumet area as a child. Sheand Billie lived in the Cleveland area for 21 years before moving backto Calumet in 2002.
She loved to read and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, putting puzzles together, gardening and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Billie Choate of the home in Geary; adaughter, Yvonda Moore and husband, Tony of Geary; a son, Larry Pointerand wife, Beverly of Kingfisher; six grandchildren, Larry Joe Pointerof Clinton, Bryan Moore of Calumet, Latasha Moore of Yukon, ChevyonneFree of Kingfisher and Eric and Bart Jones of Kingfisher; sixgreat-grandchildren; and sisters, Patsy Mackey of El Reno and MildredJanette Pointer-Belt of Union City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mae Dixon.

S. L. Clements, 42 year old El Reno resident, died early Tuesday nightin an Oklahoma City hospital after a brief illness. He lived at 815East Watts Street.
Memorial rites will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel ofWilson Funeral Home here and interment will be made at El Reno cemetery.
Mr. Clements was a World War veteran.

L. B. Cooper
Died, at his home on Christmas day at what was formerly known as theMiller postoffice, of tubercolosis, L. B. Cooper, in the forty sixthyear of his age.
Mr. Cooper came to Oklahoma in an early day and worked with a surveyingcorps for some time. He went into the mercantile business running acountry store. After several moves he opened a store at the placeafterward called Eda and was appointed postmaster, a position he heldnearly to the birth of Piedmont. After Piedmont was started he sold hisbusiness interest and his wife having died a few months before, hesettled on the little farm where Eda stood and cared for six littlechildren. After two years of this he sold the farm and again went intothe mercantile business first at Lockridge and later at Miller where hedied.
A few weeks ago he had a severe hemorrage of the lungs and neverrallied from the weakness produced thereby. Six little orphans are leftbut relatives will care for them till homes can be provided. (The YukonSon, Friday, December 28, 1906, page 3)

El Reno, Okla., Jan. 4. – Mrs. W. A. Cravens, wife of the pastor of thePresbyterian church at Waurika, died here today from the results ofparalysis which she contracted three weeks ago. She was at the home ofa son, the Rev. F. R. Farrand. Two other sons, both ministers, one atKingfisher and one in the west, and her husband survive her. The Rev.W. A. Cravens was pastor of the Presbyterian church at Chandler beforegoing to Waurika.

On account of the return of Mrs. C. W. O'Laughlin her daughter from aneastern visit, the family were all together, when a few minutes beforeten o'clock, Mrs. Daley was suddenly stricken with apoplexy and diedwithin about forty minutes.
Sarah Jane Burgoon was born at Corsica, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania,56 years ago the 25th of last October. She was reared on a farm. Shewas married to Lawrence Daley July 11, 1869. She came to this city withher husband, brother and sisters about three years ago. She was afaithful christian being a member of the Catholic Church all her life.
She leaves besides her grief stricken husband, three daughters and twosons to mourn her loss. They are Mrs. W. W. Kerns, Mrs. C. W.O'Laughlin, Mrs. A. J. Smith, J. A. Daley and Vincent Daley. Also threesisters and two brothers: Sister M. DeSales, O. S. B. St. Mary'sPennsylvania, Mrs. James Daley, Mrs. C. P. Jimmy J. Dix, age 70, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at an Oklahoma Cityhospital after a long period of declining health. He was born December22, 1937 at Pittsburg, OK to Jim and Lois (Long) Dix and grew up inPittsburg and Clinton, OK. He was a 1956 graduate of Clinton HighSchool and served six years in the Army National Guard. He moved to OKCin 1961 where he lived until his death. He was an insurance agent andhad worked since 1972 for B.L. Bishop and Associates. Frank Dolton Dead After Brief Illness
Mustang Funeral Rites Held for Pioneer Resident
Frank Dolton, 88, pioneer Mustang resident, died Tuesday at St. Anthonyhospital in Oklahoma City where he had been treated since suffering aparalytic stroke a week earlier.
He lived in Mustang from 1902 until 1948, when he and his wife moved toOklahoma City to make their home with a daughter, Mrs. FlorenceBarefoot, 412 SE 20.
Dolton was born Feb. 13, 1864, at Northville [sic], Kansas, and came toOklahoma in 1900, settling on a farm west of Edmond. He moved to a farmnear Mustang in 1902.
He was a member of the Mustang Masonic lodge, and the Baptist church.
Funeral services were to be held at 2:30 p. m. today (Thursday) at theMustang Baptist church, with burial in the Mustang cemetery. TheMustang Masonic lodge was to conduct Masonic rites at the cemetery. TheTurner funeral home of Yukon is in charge of arrangements.
Dolton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Dolton, four daughters, threesons, two brothers, 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
His daughters and sons are Mrs. Florence Barefoot, and Miss Diasy [sic]Dolton, both of Oklahoma City; Mrs. John Watson, Mrs. A. D. Hammon andThomas F. Dolton, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; Elzie [sic] G. Dolton ofMustang, and W. J. Dolton of Kansas City, Mo.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist churchin Mustang for Mrs. Ida Olive Dolton, 85, of Oklahoma City, who diedlast Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Dolton was born Dec. 13, 1867, and had been a resident of Oklahomasince 1900, living in the Deer Creek community near Edmond, OklahomaCity, and Mustang. She was a member of the Baptist church.
She was the widow of Frank Dolton, who died last October. They lived atMustang from 1902 to 1948 when they moved to Oklahoma City. Mrs. Doltonhad been making her home there with a daughter, Mrs. Florence Barefoot.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons, including Elzie [sic] Dolton of Mustang.
Rev. P. J. Wheat conducted the funeral services. Burial was in theMustang cemetery. The Turner funeral home of Yukon was in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Thelma Dolton, age 42 years, youngest child of William and MaryRiley, passed away Feb. 27, 1943, at her home near Mustang, Okla.
Mrs. Dolton was born February 23, 1901 on a farm near Mustang. Afterfinishing the eighth grade at the rural school, she attended CentralTeacher's college at Edmond.
On December 12, 1917 she married Scott Dolton and moved with him to a farm near Mustang, where she lived until her death.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, in Boston,Mass. Memorial services were conducted by G. W. Veldt at the Turnerfuneral chapel, Yukon.
Mrs. Dalton [sic] is surived by her husband, Scott Dolton, her motherMrs. Mary Riley, Mustang, two brothers, Murrell Riley, Mustang; LouisRiley, Mustang; three sisters, Mrs. Minne J. Clark, Weatherford, Mrs.Daisy Chrisco, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Esther Debo, Lenepah. Interment wasin Mustang cemetery.

Charlie spent much of his life in Calumet, Oklahoma, where he marriedAmy Herman from Mustang, OK. He had two daughters, Louise, who lived tothe age of 81, and Margaret, who lived to the age of 12. He had oneson, Charles Warren, Jr., who lived to the age of 1 year. He had twograndchildren, Larry Morrison and Lonny Morrison, and five greatgrandchildren, Jana, Wayne, Sara, Amy, and Michael. He died of a heartcondition. He is buried next to Amy in the Calumet Cemetery.

Katherine Dyer
Mrs. Katherine Dyer was born Feb. 27, 1854. She departed this lifeApril 8, 1939 at 6:45 p.m. at the age of 86 years, one month and ninedays. She was born near Louisville, Ky. When she was 9 years of age shemoved to Pikesville, Ind.
She was married to Tandy Cox at the age of 16 years and to this uniontwo children were born Adam and Marion Cox who still survive. Adam B.Cox resides in Ardmore, while Marion B. Cox is a resident of Madill.
She lost her husband and at the age of 24 years she moved with herparents to Sherman, Tex. In 1879 she was married to W. M. Seleska. Tothis union four daughters were born, three of whom survive. They areMrs. Callie Bollinger, Mrs. G. M. Stone and Mrs. Laura Thompson all ofEl Reno.
She was married to William Dyer in 1916. He lived only seven months after this union.

Cathymarried Pete Eischen on June 3, 1983, at the Sacred Heart CatholicChurch in El Reno, Oklahoma. In 1984, she and her husband moved toFairview, to start a new business and raise a family. Cathy wasinstrumental in the Fairview Meals on Wheels program in Fairview for 23years. She was proud of her role as a wife, mother, and volunteer.Gardening, scrap-booking, cooking, singing, piano and waterskiing weresome of her passions. Many hours were spent at the lake with herfamily. Cathy was a great confidant and counselor to her family andmany friends. Cathy belonged to St. Anthony's Catholic Church inOkeene. She was a charter member of the Mu Gamma Chapter of Beta SigmaPhi, a coordinator for Meals on Wheels and a member of the PEO. Cathyis survived by her husband, Pete; son, Jeffrey J. Eischen; anddaughter, Megan L. Eischen, all of Fairview; parents, Roy L. andShirley M. Clymer of Enid, and brother Scott Clymer and wife, Tara ofEdmond. He was a former police chief forUnion City.
Brandon's fun-loving personality allowed him to touch many lives inmany different ways. He will be loved and missed by many who met him,especially those who came to know and understand him. He was athrill-seeker who enjoyed anything fast and adventurous without regardto the number of wheels on the ground or the dangers involved.
Mr. Ellis was a wonderful son, brother, cousin and friend. Although henever had children of his own (except for his beloved Shih tzu, Jack),he loved everything about kids and was an amazing uncle who would doanything for his nephews no matter how brief he knew them.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Gay (Powell) Ellis.
Survivors include his father, Alan Ellis of El Reno; a brother, TrevorEllis and wife, Shawna of Norman; a sister, Jessica Corbin and husband,Chris of Yukon; nephew, Aidan Ellis, and one on the way who will benamed Jaxton Scott Corbin; his grandmother, Clara Powell; girlfriend,Janet Vieweg of El Reno; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Brandon's wishes were in lieu of flowers that memorials in his name bemade to a college scholarship fund set up for his nephews at the YukonNational Bank, or to Oklahoma Children's Hospital.

"Julian Hallard Eoff, a prominent and respected citizen of Calumet,passed away Sunday evening, Mar 31st, about seven o'clock at the homeof his mother, Mrs. F Myers. After two weeks illness of pneumonia feverwhilst struggling with hope against hope, vainly staining to overcomethat dreaded disease, the Angel of Death entered our midst and removedfrom our circle one who has loved and respected by all....
"The deceased came here from Yukon, Okla, about three years ago...Hewas a loyal member of the Modern Woodmen lodge...He was twenty-fouryears of age and leaves a mother, step-father and little step-brotherto mourn...The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church inCalumet under the aspices of the Modern Woodmen and the remains werelaid to rest in Red Rock cemetery Tuesday noon."

Mrs. Everett died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in El Reno. She was bornMarch 29, 1930, to Charles and Nancy Horspool in Ogden, Utah. Shemarried Fred Lee Everett on March 16, 1954, in Elko, Nev. They moved toOklahoma in 1965. She was a member of the Mormon Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Lee Everett; a son, Archie C. Everett; and granddaughter, Misty Everett.
She is survived by a son, Fred W. Everett and wife, Peggy of Calumet;three daughters, Nancy Salsman and husband, Larry of Lookeba, CarolynCotten and husband, Richard of Bonham, Texas, and Deleane Mortensen ofOklahoma City; brother, Kenneth Horspool of Riverdale, Utah; eightgrandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family andfriends.

Edmond Sept. 28 - Edward Felt, proprietor of the Edmond Enterprise, whohas been sick with typhoid fever for several weeks died Saturdaymorning at 3 o'clock. The last issue of the Enterprise containing astatement to the effect that Mr. Felt was somewhat improved but he grewsteadily worse until this morning when the end came.
Before engaging in the newspaper business here, he was employed astraveling salesman for the Great Western Type foundry and before thathe was the manager of the Atchison, Kans., Champion. Timothy Garner
This community was shocked and grieved Sunday by news of the death ofMr. Timothy Garner, which occurred at five o'clock that morning. He hadbeen sick in bed only two days but had been ailing quite a long time.He was 72 years old at the time of his death.
The deceased was an ex-union soldier serving throughout the war in anOhio regiment, of which state he was a native. He came to Oklahoma atthe opening and located on the farm near Piedmont which was his home atthe time of his death.
The funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Catholic churchin Yukon and were conducted by Rev. Father Stillman of El Reno. Thebody was accompanied to Yukon by Mrs. garner, Miss Lizzie Garner, F. J.Suttman and wife, Mr. LaGrange and wife. Two sons, Timothy and Thomasin North Dakota could not be present on account of the snow blockade.

Jimmy Don Griffith

Funeral services for Jimmy Don Griffith will be held at 1:30 p.m.Saturday July 19, in the Benson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in theCanadian Valley Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
After battling lymphoma cancer, Jim took the hand of his Lord to be ledfrom this earthly home to his heavenly home on July 16, 2008. He wasborn June 20, 1949, in El Reno. Raised in Bethany, as a teenager, hespent his Saturdays and summers working at the family service stationuntil he graduated from Putnam City High School in 1967. As part of aMobil Oil Company drawing, Jim won a brand new 1968 Mustang.
Jim attended a semester at UCO in 1968. He met Barbara Ann Snyder, astudent at Midwest Bible College, at Cherokee Hills Christian Churchduring that semester. They were married on Dec. 27, 1968, in Minneola,Kan.
After a semester at OU, he entered active duty in the Navy, serving hiscountry for eight years, nine months and 27 days, and was honorablydischarged as an Aviation Electronics Technician First Class on April14, 1978. While in the Navy, Jim and Barbara became parents to AndrewScott, Sherrie Ann and Emily Jean. After his discharge, Elisa Jo andJulie Kathleen were added to the family.
After his naval service, he worked for several copier companies sellingand repairing copiers. Jim and Barbara were active members at the"Tepee" Church in Edmond for several years. After 25 years of marriage,he lost Barbara to breast cancer. He continued to be an active memberin several local churches. A stillborn son also preceded him in death.
Jim is survived by his parents, Everett and Dorothy (Houston) Griffithof Bethany; children, Andrew Scott Griffith of Pelham, N.Y., Sherrieand Brian McManon of Scotts Valley, Calif., Emily and Colonel RossUhler of Jacksonville, Ark., and Jesse Keefe of Tulsa, and JulieKathleen Griffith of San Jose, Calif.; five grandchildren, Sarah,Rachel, Jacob, Caleb and Jared; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda andStan Nichols of Oklahoma City; a brother, Terry Griffith of Norman; anda host of other family and friends.

John Howard Hall age 54 of Yukon, died Friday June 11, at Chandler inan auto accident. He was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma and had beenliving in Yukon the past four and one half years. He was a salesmanager for Firestone Tire in the district office in Oklahoma City. Hewas an Army Air Force Vet of World War 11. He was a graduate ofOklahoma City University and had attended Southwestern UniversitySchool of Law in Los Angeles, Ca. and had done post graduate work atCentral State University in Edmond. Death of Mrs. J. W. Harris - Mrs. Maud Harris, wife of J. W. Harris died at 6:30 Monday morning, aged 31 years.

William F. Hico*k, 80, Dies Here Saturday – William F. Hico*k, 80, 506South Bickford, died at a local hospital Saturday afternoon of a heartattack.
Mr. Hico*k came to El Reno from Oregon in 1945. He was an interior decorator here.
He was a veteran of the Spanish American War.

Shelby Hill as he was called by his parents, was a bright boy, he wasbeloved by all who knew him and when the news of his death wascirculated yesterday morning his companions were sincere in their griefon account of his death and the pain it caused the bereaved parentswhose youngest child he was. He was a half brother of W. H. Criley ofthis city.

Sarah Hixson
Mrs. Sarah Hixon died at the home of her friend, Emma J. Stout on themorning of March 23rd. Mrs. Hixson was apparently in good health untila short time before her death but afflicted with heart disease, shewith one attack passed to the Great Beyond.
Mrs. Hixson was of the pioneers of Canadian county and settled on ahomestead twelve miles from El Reno at the opening of old Oklahoma in1899, and resided in the immediate neighborhood until her death.
She was beloved by all who knew her and her friends were numberless asattested by the large concourse which filled Oak Chapel on Sundayafternoon from which her remains were laid to rest by the Rev. W. H.profit.
She made her home with her devoted friend, Emma J. Stout and from herreceived loving kindness and care until the death angel called her whenher Christian soul departed for its eternal reward which comes to thetrue servant of God. A Friend. (The Peoples Press, Monday, March 25,1912, page 3)

Edward B. Hoebing, retired Okarche farmer, died Tuesday in the OkarcheMemorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born August 29,1890 in Breda, IA, and came to Canadian County in 1903. He farmedsouthwest of Okarche until 1945 when he retired.
Mr. Hoebing was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche, ofthe Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society, and served a term asMayor of Okarche.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, of the home, two daughters, MissRachel Hoebing of Okarche and Mrs. John Huck, Lewisville, TX; threesons, Eugene of TX, Ancil of Okarche Route 2 and Victor, Los Angeles,CA; two grandchildren; a brother, George, of Chickasha, and a sister,Mrs. Frances Bosold, Early, IA.
Rosary was recited at 8pm Thursday in the Hoebing home. Funeralservices were at 9 am Friday in Holy Trinity church with the Rev.Edmund Von Elm, pastor, officiating.

She married Frank Hoehner on Jan. 8, 1946, at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche. Frank preceded her in death on Nov. 9,1991.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Anna M.(Rother) Rueter; a son, Larry Hoehner; brother, Joe Rueter; sister,Barbara Scheirman; and a grandson, Travis Kuehn.

Mr. Hoehner died Wednesday at Select Specialty Hospital in OklahomaCity. He was born Aug. 17, 1952, in Oklahoma City. He lived most of hislife in Okarche. He received his first class FCC license in 1974 andspent several years as a radio disc jockey in Oklahoma and Kansas underthe name of J.D. Russell. He graduated from the University of CentralOklahoma in May 1996. He worked for TCI Marketing in Edmond. He was amember of Holy Trinity Church.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a sister, Christine Stucks ofKingfisher; brothers, Victor LaBarge of Ada, Richard Schoppmeyer ofOregon and Michael Schoppmeyer of Delmar, N.Y.; four stepsons, FranGilles of Mustang, Mark Gilles and Brian Gilles, both of Kingfisher,and Keith Gilles of Okarche; and six grandchildren.

She loved going to church and all the churchactivities. She was a loving and kind mother and will be greatly missedby her daughter and all those who knew her.

Thomas Gresham Jackson
Thomas Gresham Jackson, was born Dec. 2, 1866 in Elizabethtown, Ill.,and passed away March 23, 1951, at the age of 94 years 3 months, 20days. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Irene Ferrell atElizabethtown, Ill.
The first part of his life was spent as teacher, superintendent ofschools, and publisher of the Hardin County Independent, Hardin County,Illinois. After moving to Oklahoma he taught in Union City, El Reno,Okarche and Calumet.
He went into civil service in 1907 and worked with the postofficedepartment until retired in 1932. Since his retirement he has lived at1210 East Cavanaugh.
Early in life Brother Jackson became a Christian and a member of theMethodist Church. In this church he served in many capacities andtaught a Sunday school class, including the Sunday preceding his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife and three sons, two who died ininfancy and Gordon who passed away in October, 1945. Survivors includefive daughters, Bertha – Mrs. Marshall West of Sacramento, calif.;Edith – Mrs. Henry R. Von Tungein of El Reo; Lee Ona – Mrs. Bud Conwayof 510 Sunset Drive, El Reno; Winifred – Mrs. E. O. Pales of LosAngeles, Calif. And Grace – Mrs. Glenn A. Mr. Jacobs died Jan. 7 at Grace Living Center in El Reno.
He was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Okarche, and was a lifetime resident of Okarche.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a retiredfinish carpenter and member of Holy Trinity Church and Catholic Orderof Foresters.
He is survived by brothers, Bernard Jacobs and James. Jacobs, both ofOkarche, and Robert Jacobs of Calumet; and sisters, Marcella Gatz ofYukon, Barbara Henke of Oklahoma City and Caroline Williams of Okarche.

Ralph Joseph Jacobs
Ralph Joseph Jacobs, 84, died Nov. 5, 2007 at his home in Okarche.Prayer service will be Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial willbe 10 a.m. Nov. 9, both services at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche withburial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Ralph was born Feb. 23, 1923 inOkarche and was a lifetime resident. He was a farmer and member of HolyTrinity Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. On April 29, 1947, hemarried DonElda Lemke at St. Patrick Church in OKC. She preceded him indeath on May 27, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents,George and Margaret Laub Jacobs; brother, John Peter Jacobs; andsisters, Loretta Annuschat and Mary Ellen Jacobs. Ralph is survived bysons and daughters-in-law, Leon Ralph and Teri Jacobs and Richard Alanand Tammy Jacobs, all of Okarche; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Kayand Larry Vogt of Okarche; brothers Clarence, Bernard, and JamesJacobs, all of Okarche, and Robert Jacobs of Calumet; sisters, MarcellaGatz of Yukon, Barbara Henke of OKC and Caroline Williams of Okarche;grandchildren, Shelli Meyer and husband Larry, Shawn Vogt and wifeBecky, the twins, Jarrod and Justin Vogt, Michelle Corley and husbandBrian, Ryan Jacobs and wife Kayla, Jana Jacobs, the triplets, Jaclyn,Jordan and Jessica Jacobs, and Britney and Jacob ZumMallen; and great-grandchildren, Teghan, Jacksen, Morgan, and Bailey Vogt.

Betty Leck Jameson

Betty Leck Jameson, 77, of Calumet, went to be with her Lord and Savioron Sept. 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was bornSept. 4, 1930, to Charlotte and Cleburne Brewer in Valley Brook,Oklahoma City, and grew up in the Oklahoma City oil fields. Bettygraduated from Foster High School in Oklahoma City. On July 23, 1950,she married Morris Leck of Calumet and left the city to live in thecountry. In the early years the only crop, Betty said, which did notfail was the baby crop. She raised four boys whom she lovingly fedwonderful home-baked meals and nurtured while also taking care ofthousands of chickens that she raised on the farm.
Betty also worked through the years keeping books at Davidson &Case Lumber Company, the Calumet Y Farm Store and the Calumet Co-op.She was a member of First Christian Church, CWF ladies group and thelocal Home Extension Homemakers Group.
Betty loved spending time with her family and especially hergrandchildren. She spent many years of her life being a caregiver toothers, especially her mother and father in their later years. She wasa loving wife, devoted mother and adoring grandmother who alwaysencouraged her family and friends to look to the bright side of life.Her desire for family and friends left behind was to be happy for shehad a wonderful life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her late husband of 53 years, Morris Leck.
Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her husband of three years,Lee Roy Jameson of the home, with whom Betty treasured each moment thatshe spent. She is survived by her four sons, Larry Leck and wife, Robinof Oklahoma City, Tom Leck and wife, Cecelia of Hockessin, Del.,Richard Leck and wife, Gay of Calumet, and Danny Leck and wife, Marshaof Calumet; a brother, Rupert Oneal Brewer of Midwest City; sevengrandchildren, Kelley Wolcott and husband, Travis, Kenneth Leck andwife, Sara, Jennifer Leck, Christopher Leck, Elizabeth Jordan andhusband, John, Greg Leck and Dusty Leck; three great-grandchildren,Clayton Leck, Mason Jordan and Evan Leck; the loving Jameson family;and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept.22, 2007, at First Christian Church of Calumet with Rev. Tim Clausingand Rev. James Inman officiating. Burial will be in the CalumetCemetery. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Gladys May Jones
Gladys May Jones, 77, of Edmond, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, inOklahoma City. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in CalumetCemetery in Calumet. Baggerley Funeral Home of Edmond is in charge ofarrangements.
She was born Feb. 23, 1930, in Geary.
Retired from the UCO Library, she enjoyed reading, walking, animals and nature.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lester Jones; herdaughter, Helen Ann Jones and two brothers, Harry S. Coleman Jr. andCalvin C. Coleman.
Survivors in her hometown and state include two sons, Ferrald LesterJones of Stillwater and Ronald Coleman Jones of Dewey; one daughter,Marla Jones of Edmond; two sisters, Fern Grass of Edmond and twinsister, Shirley Fox of Lodi, Mo.; six grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.

John Keeley
John Keeley, a Rock Island switchman of El Reno, died from injuriesreceived while making a flying switch at that place last week. Keeleywas on top of a car setting a brake and a sudden jar caused by theengine threw him to the track and the car passed over both of his legs,severing them near the body. The shock and loss of blood caused hisdeath a few hours afterwards. (The Madill News, Thursday, March 5,1908, page 3)

Robert Edward “Ned” Keith
Heart Attack Fatal to R. E. Keith – Funeral services for Robert Edward“Ned” Keith, a pioneer El Reno resident who died Sunday will be held at2 p.m. Tuesday in the Benson funeral home chapel with Rev. M. B.Pringle, First Christian Church pastor in charge.
Burial will be made at El Reno Cemetery.
Mr. Keith, 61 years of age, died last Sunday afternoon from a heartattack. He was found dead in his bed early Sunday night at his home,413 West Wade street. A native of Oklahoma, Mr. Keith had lived in ornear El Reno practically all his life.

Mrs. King died Friday at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Shewas born Sept. 8, 1937, in Valmeda, Ark. She grew up in Arkansas, latermoving to Tennessee, then to Moore. She was a retired CNA fromSouthwestern Bell. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church inMoore.
She is survived by sons, David King and Larry King, both of Moore; abrother, Lloyd Waldo; sisters, Maxine Flynn of Little Rock, Ark., JoyBaxter, Laura Ann Rue and Lee White, all of Houston, and Paula Baxterof Illinois; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was a lifetime resident of Okarche. He was employed as a custom homebuilder. He was a lifetime member of Holy Trinity Church and member ofKnights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and Lions Club,retired member of the Okarche Fire Department and former member ofOkarche Board of Education.
He is survived by a son, Gerald Knecht of Okarche; daughters, Jo AnnKnecht of Lawton, Mary Jane Wittrock of Bethany and Barbara Reese ofNorman; a brother, Paul Knecht of Okarche; sisters, DorothyKrittenbrink of Kingfisher and Marie Fiegener of Yukon; and sevengrandchildren.

R. W. Knott
R. W. Knott, a respected and well known resident of Canadian countyliving southeast of this city died this morning after an lingeringillness. Mr. Knott was fifty-nine years of age and has a largeacquaintance over the county. His daughter died less than a month agoand since that time Mr. Knott has been in bad health. Mr. Kraus died May 4, 2007, at Parkview Hospital. He was born Jan. 7,1923, in Kingfisher to his parents, John and Frances (Meimer) Kraus.Clarence grew up in Omega. He attended Omega schools and was a 1941graduate of Omega High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WorldWar II. He married Agnes Osterholt on May 20, 1947, in Okarche. He andAgnes lived in Okarche for a few years before moving to El Reno in1950. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Merveldt Farms andURC Oil Company. Clarence was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.He received a Citizen of the Year Award for his efforts in therenovation of Legion Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Walter Kraus,Franklin Kraus and Francis Kraus, and a sister, Lucille Rund.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Kraus of the home; a son, Dan Kraus,also of the home; a daughter, Donna Morris and husband, Bill ofGoodland, Kan.; grandsons, Chad Bollinger and wife, Andrea of El Renoand Cameron Morris of Goodland, Kan.; a great-granddaughter, AllisonBollinger of El Reno; brothers, John Kraus Jr. and wife, Jeannie ofKingfisher, Robert Kraus and wife, Mary, and Edward Kraus and wife,Agnes, all of Oklahoma City; and a sister, Betty Ivie and husband,Gerald of Oklahoma City.

Mr. Kretchmar died Oct. 1,2008, at Bryant Nursing Center in Edmond. Hewas born Jan. 19,1934, in Kingfisher. He was a veteran serving in theU.S. Navy and Army National Guard.
He was a meat market manager at Eischen's Grocery for 47 years. He wasa member of Holy Trinity Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and theVFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna (Schell)Kretchmar; a brother, Joe Kretchmar; and sisters, Genevieve Kubat,Margaret Lippoldt, Josephine Jones, Annabell Alpha and Mary Pierson.
He married Mary Ann Eischen on Nov. 23,1957. Mary Ann survives him in death.

She was born in Okarche to Alfred and Teresa Stieferman Lippoldt and died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at St. Ann's in El Reno.
She was raised in Okarche and graduated from Holy Trinity and Okarche Public Schools.
She married Joseph A. Kroener May 18, 1948, in Okarche. She was ahomemaker and an Avon Representative. She also was a member of HolyTrinity Catholic Church, the Alter Society, Avon Presidents Club, andHome Demonstration Club.
Surviving are two sons, Karl Kroener and Tom Kroener, both of Okarche; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, one brother and three sisters.

Ida Langbein
Death of Mrs. Langbein - Mrs. Ida Langbein died yesterday morning atthe El Reno Sanitarium after an illness of several weeks. Her home waseight miles south west of town but about ten days ago she was broughtto the sanitarium where she could have better medical treatment.
The death is a particularly sad one. Less than a year ago the familymoved to this country from Iowa and in the spring Mr. Langbein died.

She taught at Holy Trinity School in Okarche and the ruralschools, Corner Door, Pleasant Home and Enterprise. After retiring, sheobtained her master's degree in special education and tutored students.She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Altar Society andHome Extension.
She married John A. Laub on Nov. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Elizabeth (Carson) Jensen.

Mrs. Ed Hoebing Passes Away Sunday - Sudden Heart Attack Proves Fatal to Long-Time Resident
The sudden death of Mrs. Ed Hoebing, 55, which occurred at 8:45 Sundayevening, July 17, greatly shocked her family and many friends andacquaintances in Okarche.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoebing were entertaining a group of friends on the lawnof their home when a sudden heart attack proved fatal. She receivedmedical aide and was rushed to the Okarche Hospital where all effortsto revive her were unsuccessful.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am Friday, July 22 in the HolyTrinity Church with Father Boesmann officiating at the Requiem Mass.Interment will be made in the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Mary Lenz Hoebing was born Nov. 22, 1893 to the late Nicholas & AnnLenz at Alex, AR, and came to Oklahoma in 1910. She was married to EdHoebing in August 1911. She was a member of the Holy Trinity AltarSociety, The Catholic Daughters, the VFW, and the Gold Star Mothers.
Survivors include the husband and three sons, Eugene of San Bernardino,California, Ancel and Victor Hoebing of the farm home, and twodaughters, Rachel and Coletta Hoebing also of the home.
One son, Virgil, preceded her in death in World War II in 1946 and onedaughter died in infancy. She also leaves two brothers and one sister,Martin Lenz of Shawnee and Frank Lenz and Mrs. Lizzie Turner of Okarche.

She is survived by daughters, Pamela Kay (Harvell) Alonzo of Bethanyand Helen Elaine (Lodes) Heu of Oklahoma City; a brother, Bobby Phelpsof El Paso; a sister, Floy Inman of Pineville, La.; four grandchildrenand three great-grandchildren.

Robert Lodes, 78, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008.
Service: Mass and burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy TrinityCatholic Church in Okarche, Okla. Rosary: 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to the American Diabetes Association.
Bob was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Okarche, Okla., where he found the loveof his life, Trudy. He proudly served in the Air Force during theKorean War and retired as a civil employee of the FAA.
He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved playingwith his grandbabies, fishing and just generally helping anyone whoasked. He was preceded in death by his wife.
Survivors: Children, Steven and wife, Linda, Gary and wife, Debbie,Denise and husband, Jenks Garrett, Robert and wife, Tracy, Wanda andhusband, Bruce Cox, John and wife, Lizanne; 18 grandchildren; onegreat-grandchild; siblings; and many treasured friends and family.

Homer B. Low
Prominent Lawyer Dies at El Reno
El Reno, Okla., July 9 – Homer B. Low, assistant attorney for theOklahoma lines of the Rock Island railroad, died here Wednesday morningat 8 o’clock after an illness of several months. Mr. Low has beenconnected with the Rock Island since he was 19 years of age, havingentered the service in 1897 as right of way agent in Oklahoma andTexas, and bought much of that company’s right of way in western Texaswhen its line was extended to Dalhart.
Funeral services were held at the home in El Reno at 5 o’clockWednesday evening and the body was taken to Fort Worth, where serviceswill be held in the Episcopal church at that place and burial will takeplace in the cemetery there. Deceased leaves a widow and one daughter.(The Oklahoman, July 10, 1913)

Prayer service for Donald J. Ludwig was held Tuesday, May 20 at HolyTrinity Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, May 21 atHoly Trinity Church with Revs. Philip Louis and Marvin Leven and DeaconMax Schwarz officiating.
Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
Mr. Ludwig died May 17, 2008, at Kingfisher Regional Hospital inKingfisher. He was born April 16,1922, in Okarche. He was a lifetimeresident of Okarche. He was a farmer and insurance agent for severalcompanies including Oklahoma Farmers Union. He was a member of HolyTrinity Church, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of
Foresters.
He married Marian Hufnagel on April 28,1943. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Harry G. and Matilda M. Ziegler Ludwig, and a son-in-law, Allen McCully.
He is survived by 10 children and their spouses, Donald "Wayne" Ludwigand wife, Dianne of Okarche, Paul Ludwig of Okarche, Eloise McCully ofKingfisher, John Ludwig and wife, Karla of Okarche, Joan Stone andhusband, Tom of Okarche, Ruth Beal and husband, John of Yukon, EdLudwig and wife, Jo of Okarche, Kenneth Ludwig of Okarche, Mary Rotherand husband, Bob of Okarche, and Gary Ludwig and wife, Carole ofOkarche; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
