Remote work can be an incredibly positive experience. It opens many doors and cuts out much of the time spend of getting to and from a job. Personally, I love not having a commute during the bitter Edmonton winters. The drawback is the increased amount of digital communication required and a greater difficulty in fostering team spirit. At ROCKFISH, our core team in Hamburg gets together once a month to share work and build ties, something that's tough to replicate for those on the remote side. We do our best to keep everyone off-site informed and our yearly meet up is a big part of that. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again this August!

Our last update brought EVERSPACE 2 to a whole new level. In addition to all the great in-game content added, the team spent months migrating EVERSPACE 2 to Unreal Engine 5.I had the pleasure of working with Caspar Michel and Marco Unger to coordinate and copywrite an article sharing some of the team’s experiences during the Unreal Engine 5 migration as well as examples of implementing Lumen, UE5’s dynamic global illumination and reflections system. The end result was a well-received piece and an accompanying Lumen on/off comparison video that we hope will help inspire other teams undertaking similar projects. A special shout out to Daniel K. at Epic Games who helped organize and set everything up on the Unreal Developer Blog. #UE5 #UnrealEngine5 #Lumen #Devblog #GameDev #IndieDev #Article #SharedExperience

I cannot express just how satisfying it is to see Incursions in the hands of EVERSPACE 2 players on all platforms. The team has been working on this update and engine migration since November of last year and all their effort really is a gift to EVERSPACE 2 players. Incursions adds an incredibly fun new combat event along with a bunch of new features, fixes, and in-game items alongside a shift to Unreal Engine 5.3. This is also the first time we've dipped our toes in the waters of cosmetic DLC with our new Supporter Pack on Steam. Too often, players get turned off of this kind of content as it's seen as a cash grab or dislike some sort of playable element locked behind a paywall. We were extremely conscientious of both when putting this pack together to ensure the cosmetics in the pack were plentiful, high-quality, and felt entirely optional. The community has been incredibly receptive to the pack and we have requests from players on other platforms for us to bring it there too!On the marketing side, bringing all our messaging together for the Incursions Update and Supporter Pack has been an incredibly fulfilling challenge. The update content, Unreal Engine 5 migration, and the fantastic trailer produced in-house all helped to attract a solid amount of attention from media and influencers world wide. ObsidianAnt's video on the update was particularly delightful to see. We also partnered with Alienware to produce a special free Steam decal DLC for EVERSPACE 2 that could be claimed through Alienware Arena and we were fortunate to be supported by NVIDIA channels through the promotion of new DLSS features during a massive 50% off midweek deal event on Steam. All of this contributed to a stellar week for EVERSPACE 2! I’m proud of the work that our development team has put in over the last six months and everything Michael Schade, Jérémy Bouvard, Garry, Erik, and others on the marketing and community side of ROCKFISH Games GmbH have done to promote it.Now, onward to the next thing! Lots to do and I’m excited to get to it!#gameupdate #gamedev #gamemarketing #marketing #update #accolades #gettingitdone #communications #PR #videogames

Awesome to see Michael Schade, Christian Lohr, and Uwe Wuetherich up on that stage! ROCKFISH Games and the EVERSPACE series has been a real success story and it's great to see the team's hard work celebrated, especially in their home country. Super proud of what we've made, there's more to come!

Thrilled to be a part of a Webby nominated team! Seeing EVERSPACE 2 held high alongside some of the year's best web media is deeply satisfying.I recall seeing the first Webby awards going around the internet waaaaaay back when and wondering if it would catch on. Years later, here we are!#webbys #indiegames #gamedev
