Dry Skin Toner Recipe With Just 4 Ingredients (2024)

This dry skin toner has just four ingredients. It has helichrysum and vetiver essential oils to moisturize dry skin without making it oily.

It's amazing how different my skin's needs are in the winter versus the summer. In the summer, my skin is so oily that I have to wear arrowroot powder every day. In the winter, my skin gets so dry that it gets tight and itchy.

I've already switched my moisturizer to my winter formula. In the winter, I need a little bit extra moisturize and a thicker formula. I also change my face soap to something less drying, and I wanted to make a dry skin toner recipe to use as well.

My skin looks noticeably better when I use a toner morning and night before I use a moisturizer. It helps tone my skin and helps my pores appear smaller.

I got some new essential oils, and I was really excited to try them in a recipe. I couldn't decide which one to use for this recipe, so I used both, and I'm glad I did.

This recipe is for dry skin, but it could also be used by those with normal skin.

Why You Should Be Using a Toner

I use a toner twice a day as part of my skin care routine. Even if you cleanse your skin, there can still be traces of oil or dirt left behind. That oil or dirt can clog pores causing acne.

Toners like this one help dissolve excess oil and remove more makeup. I've noticed that no matter what cleanser I use, toner almost always removes more dirt.

It's a good idea to use a toner after you wear makeup or use sunscreen because sometimes just using a cleanser isn't enough to get everything off of your face.

Toners also help restore your skin's pH balance after using a cleanser.

WITCH HAZEL

The main ingredient is witch hazelDry Skin Toner Recipe With Just 4 Ingredients (2), which is derived from the bark and leaves of a plant in the Hamamelidaceae family. Witch hazel is an astringent, so it's a wonderful base for this homemade skin toner.

Make sure you buy pure witch hazel. Some brands have alcohol added to them, which can be too drying for your skin.

Witch hazel is said to help reduce acne and inflammation when used topically. It is also an antioxidant and antiseptic to kill acne-causing bacteria.

I use a toner daily because I have large pores. A toner helps clean out the pores and make them appear smaller.

VITAMIN E OIL

I also added vitamin E oil because it's an antioxidant and acts as a natural preservative. Using vitamin E topically is said to block free radicals. Free radicals can cause signs of aging, so using antioxidants in skin care can help prevent the signs of aging.

It also helps smooth skin and can help reduce the appearance of scars, including those from acne.

I've used several brands of vitamin E oilDry Skin Toner Recipe With Just 4 Ingredients (3) over the last few years, and my favorite is Crafty Bubbles. It's very thick and works great. Other brands are thin, which leads me to believe that they may be cut with other ingredients.

HELICHRYSUM ESSENTIAL OIL

I chose Helichrysum because it is said to:

  • have anti-aging properties
  • reduce age spots
  • calm the skin
  • be naturally anti-inflammatory
  • can help heal wounds (making it a great choice for acne blemishes)

VETIVER ESSENTIAL OIL

Vetiver essential oil is said to:

  • promote cellular turnover
  • improve scars.
  • be a good oil to use on dry skin
  • be an antioxidant
  • have antibacterial properties

I got both of the essential oils and the vitamin E where I get the majority of my oils, at Bolek's Craft Supplies. They have high quality oils at prices you won't find anywhere else.

They don't have online ordering, but you can call them or email to place an order. Here's a list of all of the essential oils that they carry.
